Koala Kolache creates delicious, unique Texas kolache using only the finest, freshest ingredients. Scratch-made with joy- and crafted with creative combinations of sweet and savory ingredients, our kolache endless creativity, these pillowy soft filled pockets of dough are designed to fill bellies (or pouches, as the case may be) and hearts.
From our founder
It began, ironically, at a donut shop. While everyone around me was there for rings of fried dough, I was deliciously distracted by another yeast confection: the kolache. It was love at first bite and that first, delicious bite. I was hooked — on the taste, my curiosity, and the joy I felt.
Five days and 10000 calories later, — Koala Kolache was born.
While I had a strong vision for the brand, I was still a single mom with zero baking experience. But rather than let my dreams sink like an ill-conceived soufflé, I decided to focus on acquiring the skills I needed for building Koala Kolache and the community I saw growing around it- a community created through pastries.
Launching a business is hard work with a lot of trial and error. I had to take big risks and sacrifices. Growth only comes from learning and trying new things EVERY. single. day. I experiment, play, and then perfect,— all in the name of pastry.
Kolache are my baked good babies! During the cooking process I talk to my ‘kolache kiddos, the way some people compliment to their plants or pets. “You have the potential to be amazing” I say. And I tell them I want them to be as delicious so they can bring joy and comfort to our community — and feed people in ways that go far beyond full bellies.
In 2017, my team and I opened Koala Kolache in the heart of Cypress, Texas, and we’ve been bringing joy to people in dough form ever since.

We make our kolache fresh daily, in small batches from scratch, using only the finest, freshest ingredients. Virtually “almost all” of our materials are crafted in-house, including our dough, which we mix, cut, and roll out ourselves.
To produce our diverse and delicious fillings, we lovingly linger over simmering pots and preside passionately over sizzling pans so you can taste our commitment to quality, we whip up rich creams and frostings using milk and butter so fresh you can practically still hear the cowing
moo-ing every pastry.
We at Koala Kolache know to make the metaphorical dough you gotta approach the art of literal dough making- with the utmost care, passion, and a sense of fun. And, because kolache are, by definition, delicious comfort food that makes people smile, that brings us joy.
